What Shoppers Think about Amazon's Acquisition of Whole Foods Market

Shopper Feedback + Recent Photos Inside Whole Foods Market Stores

As experts in understanding how health-conscious female consumers shop, we recently asked our panel of shoppers their thoughts on Amazon's recent acquisition of Whole Foods Market. Here's what some of them had to say.

Amazon and Whole Foods are two of my favorite things coming together, so it seems like a recipe for success. So far, I’m happy to be saving $2-3 off on several things I buy each week. I do however hope that the discounts don’t lead to a degradation of the in-store experience that I’ve grown to enjoy so much.

Of course I’m happy!! Amazon prime is also going to become their loyalty program. The two companies are where we spend most of our money so any discounts and integrations are in our best interest. The first round of discounts are on organic foods we buy weekly so I’m thrilled.

My personal experience did not change, it was still very pleasant and crowded, per the usual. Other Whole Foods might be greater affected by the change, but from what I can tell I did not sense a difference.

Here are a few photos we snapped recently (shortly after the acquisition) inside Whole Foods Market stores in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Las Vegas, Nevada. Notice the new, orange signage touting "new lower prices" and calling out Whole Foods Market + Amazon. This sort of signage can now be seen in Whole Foods Market stores around the country.
