Green Purse PR Celebrates 10 Years!
I'm feeling especially grateful this year as my business, Green Purse PR, turns 10 years old on the first of March, 2020. Ten years of ‘freedom’ working with companies I share values with is indeed a blessing and makes work not only fun, but also immensely fulfilling. Thank you to all the clients we’ve had the privilege to support, through research and public relations. I am also thankful for our strong partnerships with industry trade organizations, conferences and trade media, and the countless other business partners who give me a platform to continue to share my thought leadership and expertise.
To celebrate, I’ve made a list below which outlines 10 interesting facts you may not know about myself or the business.
10 Things You May Not Know About Lisa & Green Purse PR
Lisa founded the business at the age of 25, shortly after moving to Washington, DC. Upon relocating to the District, Lisa was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug (thanks largely to Yianni, who is now her husband.)
Our first marquis client ten years ago was the Saffron Road brand, where we were tasked with helping them launch what has now grown into a specialty food rockstar in the USA! This engagement also led Lisa to win the highly-coveted Ogilvy Award from the Advertising Research Foundation.
The first trade event that Lisa presented as CEO of Green Purse PR, was the Specialty Food Association’s Summer Fancy Food Show, the world’s leading trade show for the specialty food industry.
With shopper research as one of the primary services Green Purse PR offers, Lisa has “shopped-along” with hundreds of consumers all over the world, not only here in the USA, but also in Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Greece, and Israel.
Lisa grew up on a farm in North Carolina, and although not a actual farmer herself, she does come from a family of farmers and loves supporting farmers and growers around the world who are doing their absolute best to care for the planet, consumers, land, farmers/growers and livestock.
Lisa’s first step in her professional career was working at Mullen, a leading creative agency in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Right after university, Lisa started in Mullen’s marketing to women practice, Frank About Women, where she worked with consumer packaged goods brands, such as BISSELL Homecare Inc., Sara Lee, Heinz, Kimberly Clark, and many others. Marketing to women and moms has been a part of Lisa’s work since the very beginning.
Sydney, Australia is Lisa’s most favorite place in the world. She lived there for two years, running Green Purse PR from there — still servicing American clients (working days and nights backwards to accommodate the American work schedule.) Lisa’s first Australian client was OBE Organic, a leading organic and halal beef producer.
Keen to be creating niches, Lisa believes that being highly specialized allows her to create unparallel value for her clients. Some recent examples of her world class insights include Halal (Muslim) consumers, marketing to women, marketing to moms, understanding natural shoppers, and a geographic focus on Australia and New Zealand.
Among the many public relations campaigns Lisa has worked on, one of her favorite was the campaign for Saffron Road, when Whole Foods Market first had a shopper marketing campaign to engage American Muslim consumers during the month of Ramadan.
A recurring theme Lisa keeps top of mind in all of her endeavors is to be “constantly curious.” Keeping a constant pulse on how health-conscious shoppers think, behave and buy by conducting shopper research helps Lisa’s clients do their best consumer marketing.
